What is the PV Fun Run?
The PV Fun Run is our largest PTA fundraising event of the year! Our goal this year is to raise $60,000 to fully fund our school’s fantastic PTA-sponsored events and programs for the entire school year.
Why do we need to fundraise? What are we raising money for this year?
Prospect Valley’s PTA fundraising allows us to contribute to school initiatives and programs in a tangible way. PTA-funded events and programs at Prospect Valley enrich the students’ experiences, ensure that our teachers and staff are not spending money out of their own pockets, and help our community thrive. With our new consolidated school community, this year’s PTA events and programs are more important than ever, so we can all come together as one cohesive, strong Prospect Valley community.
Our PTA provides funds for each PV classroom teacher to purchase much needed supplies, and arrange for curriculum enrichment activities such as field trips and special guest speakers. We also contribute to the school's everchanging tech needs, important classroom initiatives and educational tools (such as BrainPop and other software subscriptions), new books for our library, safety upgrades, supplies for our Specials classes and much more. PTA programming includes community-building events, such as Special Person's Day, the School Dance and PV Showcase; curriculum enhancement, such as the Spelling Bee, Battle of the Books and the Read at Home program; and school support programs, such as staff appreciation week, staff and family support and Load the Lounge.
Do I get a say in how the money raised is spent?
Absolutely- we’d love to hear your voice! All PTA members get a vote on fund requests from the school and PTA committees. Fund requests are presented at our monthly PTA meetings, and we’ll be voting on requests via email polls. You can still vote even if you can’t attend the meetings! How does the Fun Run work?
- The Fun Run is a super fun way for PV students to help raise money for their school. Every kid is a part of the FUN, and 100% of the profits go to support our school and our PTA initiatives!
- On Friday, Oct. 11th, during their Art, Music, STEM or PE class, each student will have 30 minutes (20 minutes for kinder and first grade students) to run/walk/skip/dance as many laps as possible around our 1/10 mile Fun Run loop. Kids LOVE the Fun Run and its bubbles, water features, silly music, loud cheering and school spirit- it’s become a cherished community event.
- Leading up to the Fun Run, students will collect pledges from family, neighbors and friends on a per lap basis (i.e. $1 per lap) or a flat donation (i.e. $20). After the run, we’ll tally up how many laps each student completed so they can then collect on pledges they have received. You can collect pledges/donations online or accept cash/checks in person.
- To collect online, you will need to help your student create an online fundraising page in Givebacks (the company hosting our fundraising website). As soon as you register, you can start sharing the link to their page via email, social media and text to get those donations rolling in!
- If you would like to collect cash/checks as well (or instead of online fundraising), fill out a manual pledge form and make sure to return it to your child’s teacher by October 22nd with all money collected. The pledge form does not need to be filled out if you are only receiving online donations.
- After all monies have been turned in on October 22nd, prizes will be ordered and delivered to students ASAP (usually within 2 weeks of the event). Prizes will be distributed at school.

Tell me all about the Prizes!
- All students will receive a fancy new 2024 Prospect Valley water bottle to use for the Fun Run, which they’ll get to keep forever and ever, and use to show their school spirit around town and on all of their adventures. But that’s just the beginning...
- The more donations a student brings in, the more prizes they will win. When they reach a donation level of $25, $50, $100, $250 or $500, students will win a different fun prize. And- all prizes are cumulative- the more money you raise, the more prizes you’ll get! So, a student who collects $500 in donations will receive all of the prizes for each fundraising level. Prizes will be shown on the Givebacks Participant Center page! Prizes will also be on display at the school!
